Create a new sustainable church building with strong street presence that respects the core ministry values and essence of the surrounding environment, whilst employing modern sustainable materials and building techniques.
The architects have created a simple but elegant design with dramatic slanted roof and durable, sustainable brickwork finish echoing the scale and mass of the surrounding tenement buildings. The rich brown and burgundy shades of Drumquin dragfaced brown multicolour brickwork have been chosen to accentuate the building’s character and physical appearance – teamed with a flush grey mortar to emphasize the modular construction and throw out the depths of shade. A panel of Pewter Glazed brick defines the courtyard entrance and gives a sleek texture to the façade, whilst to the street elevation, large inset rectangular brickwork panels, one with saw tooth edging detail, provide relief to the elevation whilst mediating privacy and noise from the street.
