ABODE, Clay Farm, Great Kneighton, Cambridge

Challenge

To reinforce the contemporary theme of this large scale development of mews streets, saw-toothed terraces and loose 2 and 3-storey clusters, by continuing the brick detailing to the underside of large exposed ground floor soffits.

Solution

The solution was to use Ibstock Fastwall™ panels, fixed directly back to the substructure. Faced with 20mm Ivanhoe Cream brick slips, the pre-engineered panels are quick to fit, and exactly match the Ivanhoe Cream base palette used throughout the development. Ibstock Kevington deep pre-cast lintels, faced with matching brick slips and pistols, create a similar seamless transition around door and window openings. Panels of specially split Himley Ebony Black bricks add a distinctive textured appearance.
